Become a Private Bartender

Are you a bartender and are you sick of getting bad shifts at your job? Do you want to control your work schedule and get paid top dollar for your bartending skills? You can become a private bartender with the tips I am about to give you. Even if you are not a bartender you can get the training you need and become a private bartender.

Why would you want to become a private bartender? Private bartenders get paid as much as $30 an hour plus tips for their work. Plus if you own your own company and get a catering liquor license you can provide the liquor and make a profit from your drinks as well.

To become a private bartender you will need a few things. One, you will need to be extensively trained in drink recipes and you will need to know your liquors. A private bartender does not need to have as much speed as a club or tavern bartender, but a private bartender needs to know as many drinks and liquors as possible.

The second thing you will need is a liquor license, if your state requires one. Check with your state and find out if you need one. Most of the time a liquor license is not very expensive and only take a week or two to get.

Once you have the training and the license you need to start finding private parties to work. Call all of the local catering companies to see if they need anybody to work any of their events. Also check with the museums and other places where events are held. Even if you have to be employed by a catering company that does these events that is ok.

You will want to get some business cards printed up with your name, company name(if you have one), e mail address, website(if you have one), and phone number. When you are working private parties for other people set these on your bar and don’t be afraid to give them out.

You can also take an ad out in your local classifieds and with the telephone book. The main goal is to find some private parties to get you started and then you will start getting referrals to do more and more parties. As long as you do a good job people will refer you to others and hire you for their next party.
